Science and Environmental Journalist

I’m a rising waters lab reporter for The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C. I cover sea level rise, climate change and all manner of environmental issues in the South Carolina’s Lowcountry.

A Wisconsin native, I covered biological sciences, Midwest environmental issues and environmental justice before making the move to South Carolina’s Lowcountry.

Prior to trading the lab bench for journalism, I spent three years studying how copepods (tiny aquatic crustaceans) adapt to temperature and salinity shifts caused by climate change.

I worked at Inside Climate News as a 2023 AAAS Mass Media Science and Engineering Fellow and at Sierra Magazine as an editorial fellow.

My work has also appeared in Nature, Reasons to be Cheerful, and Hakai Magazine and is syndicated in Smithsonian Magazine, Popular Science, Mother Jones, Ars Technica and Canada's National Observer.
